Biography
Based in Los Angeles, El Mac is one of the artists who have redefined contemporary mural art. Since the late 1990s, he has been refining a unique visual language characterized by undulating lines, vibrant patterns, and a spirituality that transcends the artwork.
His portraits, halfway between photographic realism and classical art, bear the influence of his Chicano and Mexican roots. In them, he celebrates the dignity and beauty of the ordinary faces of women, workers, and neighborhood figures, whom he transforms into icons.
Whether spray-painting on monumental walls or working with acrylics on canvas, El Mac seeks above all to uplift and inspire. Each work is a silent tribute to humanity, to the quiet strength of those we don’t always notice.
His murals now span the globe: Los Angeles, Brussels, Milan, Havana, and Seoul.
