Biography

A leading figure in Montreal’s graffiti scene, Alex Scaner has been developing a vibrant and instantly recognizable urban style since the late 1990s. A graduate in environmental design from UQAM, he has developed an approach that blends calligraffiti, abstraction, and the codes of street art to transform the “tag” into a true visual language.

Active internationally, notably in Denmark, Miami, and New York, he has left his mark on several major street art hotspots. Exploring murals, canvas, and metal sculpture alike, Scaner creates energetic and structured works that are deeply rooted in the urban landscape.

Alex Scaner has passed away, leaving behind a body of striking works and a lasting influence on Montreal’s art scene. He remains today one of the most important voices in contemporary graffiti in Montreal.
